Brainstorming
What is your Media product?
My media product is a poster for a WW2 film/game based in Western Europe.
Will it be a branded product?
Yes as it will be advertising a line of products that all directly link together by a brand look, name and style.
What Target audience will your group be?
Our photos are aiming to attract to an audience with an interest in war/action films and games and will target a male audience from the ages of 16 and above meaning the images will be gritty and unsaturated to emphasise the dark tone of the product we're promoting.
Where will the photographs appear?
The photos will be designed for all formats of media from billboards, magazines, TV adverts, online adverts and also on online game platforms such as steam.
What type of photographic shoot will you be planning?
I'm planning for a photographic shoot that aims to advertise a media product, in this case a new WW2 game/film. this means I'll be shooting at an outside location to suit the themes of the product.
Inspirational Posters:
These posters inspired me and also provide the basis for my ideas as they convey the look and feel I want to present in my images through the use of lighting and colour grading but also composition.
Saving private Ryan as a film inspired me to do this theme as it's something I have an interest in and would be able to put a lot of effort into. With regards to the poster it's use of a lone soldier in the foreground has inspired me to how I wanted my image composition to look.
The War Horse poster has given me idea of how I want to use lighting in my images. With the light being emitted from one side of the image and how this effects the look of the characters in the image and may suggest deeper messages.
The Band of Brothers poster has also given me plenty of ideas of how I should colour grade my final composites as it uses a saturated effect with a green/blue hue covered by a grain filter.
This Red Orchestra 2 poster is for a WW2 game based on fighting on the eastern front this has given me ideas on how I'm going to composite my image such as multilayer images that have been superimposed in to the background image.
This poster for Fury the upcoming WW2 movie is also very similar to Band of Brothers with it's colour grading technique. It's also helped me to spot a trend of dark grey clouds in the background of the images which I will attempt to replicate in my images.
